VEG SHAMI KEBAB

Shami kebab is a popular punjabi recipe. It was originally a non-veg preparation but due to it's popularity now veg variety is also quite popular.
I recently made this as a birthday surprise for my husband....and it came out really well. It brought back his memories from his time in Chandigarh...and he really enjoyed it. Hope all of you would like that.

We are going to make veg shami kebabs here.

Ingredients
  • Boiled chickpea(kabuli chana) -1 Cup
  • Raw banana - 2
  • Paneer(cottage cheese ) graded - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 copped
  • Amchur powder - 1tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala  - 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder - as per your test
  • Salt -- as per your taste
  • Oil - 1tbsp
  • Coriander  - 1tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • pomegranate - 1/2 Cup
Method-

  • Boil banana in a water remove skin and mash.
  • Take a pan heat the oil add ginger garlic paste ,coriander powder and mashed chanaa. Mix it well .
  • Then add red chilli, cumin powder, garam masala powder mix it well.
  • Now add mash banana and mix it well. Switch off the flame and mash this mixture till the mixture become like a dough.
  • Make equal size balls out of this mixture. Make it a decent size as stuffing would go inside.
For stuffing:

  • Take paneer -- add onion, salt, red chilli, pomegranate, coriander powder and chaat masala mix it well.
  • Make equal small size balls of this mixture.
  • Take the balls made of dough and flatten it a bit. Put the mixture ball in the middle and cover it with dough making small tikkies or any shape u like .
  • Take plain tawa or grill toaster, grease tawa with little oil.  Fry tikkies from both the side till golden brown color. You can apply little oil on tikkies as well to avoid them getting stick to tawa.
  • Take out in to the plate.

Veg shami kebab is ready to serve. Garnish with onion dices and lemon piece. Serve with any            type of chutney or sauce. :)

Note-You can use channa daal or black chanaa instead of kabuli chanaa.  You can take khoya in place of paneer. Adjust spices amount as per your taste.

I saw this recipe at vahrevah.com .....and did some changes to suit my taste.

App bhi khaiye and khilaiye :)
